# Materials for Water-Quenched Thermoforming Applications

Thermoforming film structures used in food packaging applications require materials capable of combining flexibility, puncture resistance, and stable optical performance. Different nylon structures provide distinct mechanical and thermoforming characteristics depending on the polymer composition used.

UBE NYLON provides several grades for water-quenched multilayer film structures, including UBE NYLON 1030B, 5032B, 5034B, and 6434B. Comparative data for 150 µm film structures with 30% PA thickness illustrates differences in tensile modulus, elongation at break, puncture energy, haze, and thermoforming depth.

The evaluated grades present varying balances between flexibility and puncture resistance according to the nylon grade.

The materials also maintain low haze values between 4% and 5%, while maximum thermoforming depth ranges from 65 mm to 80 mm depending on the grade evaluated.
